This is the Satin Black Ash finish of the Klipsch Heritage La Scala AL5, one of Klipsch’s largest speakers and, since 1963, one of its most beloved. The Black Ash finish gives the AL5’s large horn-loaded cabinets a cleaner, more contemporary look — a good fit for a modern room or dedicated theater space.
“Black Ash is the pair I recommend most for a dedicated theater or listening room — it keeps the visual focus on the room rather than the cabinet, while still giving you that unmistakable La Scala horn sound. Since this is a special-order finish, let’s confirm timing together before you commit.” — Antonio Romeo, Owner, CapitalSound.ca
The La Scala has stood apart from minimalist speaker trends since its debut in 1963, and it remains one of Klipsch’s largest speakers, second in stature only to the Klipschorn. The current AL5 generation adds a newly designed Tractrix® horn-loaded tweeter to that legacy while keeping the fully horn-loaded, three-way design that built the La Scala’s reputation.
The La Scala AL5’s 1" K-771 tweeter, 2" K-55-X midrange compression driver, and 15" K-33-E woofer are all horn-loaded, delivering exceptional sensitivity, low distortion, and the broad, well-controlled dispersion that defines classic Klipsch sound. That high sensitivity also makes the AL5 a strong match for lower-powered tube amplifiers.
The La Scala AL5 is designed and hand-built in Hope, Arkansas. Each pair is finished in book-matched veneer cut from the same piece of timber and precisely arranged to create a mirror image at the seam.
Each speaker has two pairs of binding posts for bi-amping or bi-wiring. The La Scala AL5 doesn’t include speaker wire, so ask us in-store or by appointment for a recommendation that suits your amplifier and run length.
The La Scala AL5 ships in two cabinets per speaker — an upper section housing the tweeter and midrange, and a separate lower folded-horn bass cabinet. Fully assembled, each speaker weighs 201 lbs, so plan on a friend or two to help unbox and position them.
The La Scala AL5 is a hand-built, special-order speaker rather than an off-the-shelf item, so please contact us for current lead times and availability of the Satin Black Ash finish. I’d also invite you to book an appointment at our Ottawa showroom to hear other Klipsch Heritage flagship models — including the Klipschorn AK6 — so you can compare horn-loaded designs before placing an order. Our team will walk you through amplifier pairing, room placement, and delivery/setup anywhere in Canada.
The La Scala AL5 is a hand-built, special-order speaker rather than a stocked item. Contact Capital Sound for current lead times and availability of the Satin Black Ash finish.
Yes — its fully horn-loaded design gives it very high sensitivity, which makes it an excellent match for lower-powered tube amps as well as solid-state amplifiers.
