Features
3-Way Floorstanding Speaker: The SVS Ultra Evolution Titan speaker employs a 3-way driver design featuring a 1" diamond coated aluminum dome tweeter, two 4.5" glass fiber cone midrange drivers, and four 6.5" glass fiber cone bass woofers that are seamlessly blended by a premium 3-way crossover network (with premium-grade capacitors, inductors, resistors, and heavy-trace printed circuit board) for a sound that is revealing, detailed, and dynamic. Precisely tuned crossover frequencies and slopes between the tweeter, midrange drivers, and bass woofers result in truthful phase coherency and a precise, robust soundstage. In addition, the midrange drivers and bass woofers are positioned above and below the tweeter to create an idealized "point-source" where sound flows from a single point in front of the speaker to optimize dispersion characteristics.
- Diamond Coated Aluminum Dome Tweeter: Through a process called Vapor Deposition, a layer of diamond carbon is applied to the aluminum dome tweeter to vastly improve rigidity and acoustic properties. This breakthrough in material science raises the frequency response well beyond the limits of human hearing resulting in effortless, airy, and unveiled highs with no measurable distortion. The diamond coating also pushes low frequency extension of the tweeter deeper for more seamless blending with the midrange. An Organic cell lattice tweeter diffuser protects the dome and employs semi-random pattern derived from organic cell structures to improve off-axis response and maximize the listening "sweet spot".
- Dual 4.5" Midrange Drivers: The SVS Ultra Evolution Titan Speaker utilizes two 4.5" glass fiber midrange drivers for their superb stiffness-to-mass ratio that renders stunning dynamics with flawless tonal accuracy. Each glass fiber composite cone midrange driver sits inside a precision-cast aluminum-alloy basket to ensure precise alignment of critical components and maximize thermal dissipation. A vented Kapton voice coil former that is exremeley lightweight is used on each midrange driver for excellent dynamics and transient response.
- Quad-Opossing 6.5" Bass Woofers: The Ultra Evolution Titan speaker employs quad 6.5" glass fiber cone bass woofers in a force balanced array. The opposing 6.5" woofers on the front and back of the cabinet render effortless low frequency response while addressing room modes, delivering deep and, authoritative bass evenly throughout the listening area. Mechanical energy from each front-firing woofer is equaled inside the cabinet by the rear-firing woofer eliminating mechanical coloration for pure, accurate low frequencies at any playback level. Each glass fiber cone bass woofer features a long stroke motor and suspension for high output, plus a vented aluminum voice coil former that maximizes thermal control while minimizing air compression artifacts at high drive levels.
Time Aligned Cabinet Geometry: The Ultra Evolution Titan speaker's acoustically tuned enclosure, featuring a separate internal chamber for the midrange driver, optimizes midrange and low frequency tuning, plus eliminates any potential for cabinet resonances, resulting in pristine sound across the frequency spectrum. FEA-optimized 3/4" MDF cabinet construction, bracing, and acoustic insulation eliminate acoustic and structural resonances, ensuring an inert enclosure and an uncolored response, even at the highest drive levels. The extra-thick 1" curved front baffle provides a rigid, resonance-free mounting surface for the drivers, plus aligns the sonic radiation point of the tweeter and woofer on a vertical plane ensuring sound from each driver reaches your ears at the exact same instant - maximizing phase coherence for a more convincing and immersive soundstage with pinpoint accuracy and imaging. Separate, acoustically tuned internal chambers for the bass woofers and midrange drivers optimize separation and eliminate any potential for cabinet resonances, resulting in pristine sound across the frequency spectrum.
- Dual Rear-Firing Ports: The speaker enclosure is a bass reflex design with dual rear-firing 2.5" wide-flared ports to provide greater efficiency and bigger bass response.
- Magnetic Grilles: The included acoustically transparent grilles help contribute to reduced edge diffraction and improved on-axis high frequency response. The grilles attach magnetically to the front of the speakers.
Dual Binding Posts: The SVS Ultra Evolution Titan speaker is outfitted with two sets of sturdy binding posts allowing to bi-amp or bi-wire the floorstanding loudspeaker. These binding posts ensure a secure connection to many types of cable and connectors. The binding post terminals will accept banana plugs (single only), pin-connectors, spade-lugs and bare wire (up to 10AWG).
- Bi-Wiring: Bi-wiring can provide noticeable improvements in the overall transparency of your loudspeakers. Run separate speaker wires to the low & high frequency drivers from a single amplifier (the upper set of binding posts are for the high frequency drivers; the lower set of binding posts are for the low frequency drivers).
- Bi-Amping: Bi-amping allows you to use separate amplifiers for the high & low frequency sections of your loudspeaker for greater dynamic range & lower distortion. We recommend that your separate amplifiers have identical gain to preserve the speaker's voicing balance.
Elastomer & Spike Feet: The Ultra Evolution Titan speaker comes packaged with two sets of feet options that allow optimal placement on a variety of floor substrates. The elastomer isolation feet that come pre-installed on the Ultra Evolution Titan are perfect for hardwood, tile, laminate, and vinyl flooring. The elastomer isolation feet can be removed and replaced with the included threaded metal spikes that are designed for carpeted floors. If you want to use the metal spikes on hardwood, tile, laminate, or vinyl flooring, then use the included protective discs under the spike feet to protect your floors. Both sets of feet are threaded to allow easy leveling of the Ultra Evolution Titan if it should stand on an uneven surface.
- Dimensions w/ Rubber Feet: 9.8125" (w) x 47.125" (h) x 17.375" (d)
- Dimension w/ Spike Feet: 9.8125" (w) x 47.5625" (h) x 17.375" (d)
- Dimensions w/ Spikes & Discs: 9.8125" (w) x 47.625" (h) x 17.375" (d)
Placement: Proper placement of the front left and right speakers are essential to achieve the smoothest frequency response, optimal stereo imaging and the most spacious, three-dimensional soundstage.
- Stereo imaging and soundstage are affected by loudspeaker location and the listening position, relative to each other and room boundaries. Moving the floorstanding speakers away from room boundaries will tend to improve stereo imaging and spaciousness by attenuating and delaying boundary reflections, thus optimizing direct sound and helping to preserve spatial information in the recording. Toeing-in the loudspeakers 25° -30° can often improve imaging, however this is also a function of the distance from nearby boundaries and the ratio of direct-to-reflected sound, so experimentation with toe-in is recommended to obtain optimal results.
- The location of the floorstanding speakers relative to nearby boundaries will also excite various "room modes" which will affect the bass response of the loudspeakers. Generally, placing the floorstanding speakers closer to room boundaries (particularly corners) will increase the bass response. Conversely, moving the loudspeakers away from boundaries and corners will reduce the bass response.
Ultra Evolution Series: The new Ultra Evolution Series by SVS consists of seven speaker models including three floorstanding loudspeakers (Tower/Titan/Pinnacle), two bookshelf speakers (Nano/Bookshelf), one center channel speaker (Center), and a height speaker (Elevation). The Ultra Evolution Series features SVS advancements in driver design, cabinet architecture, and component materials.
Optional Powered Sub: A SVS powered sub (sold separately) makes a great addition to the Ultra Evolution series of loudspeakers for deeper and more immersive bass.
