Features
Quiet 3-Speed Motor System: The Pro-Ject X2 B employs a sophisticated DC/AC generator board which combined with the convenient 3-speed control board (33-1/3, 45, or 78 RPM) to deliver clean and stable power to the quiet motor system. The X2 B's motor chassis is carefully balanced and suspended on a precision tuned TPE belt; this way the motor chassis is effectively decoupled from the main plinth for optimal performance. It is free floating, horizontally completely level and able to operate at the highest performance levels. As a result, this quiet motor suspension system eliminates any unwanted vibration from being transmitted to the turntable's chassis, platter, tonearm, or cartridge.
Note: The turntable supports 33-1/3, 45, and 78 RPM speeds. Two belts are provided; see Instructions for which belt to use for what speed. 78 RPM records require an additional cartridge that is not included and sold separately (see Accessories Tab).
Sumiko Rainier MM Cartridge: The Pro-Ject X2 B turntable comes with a pre-installed Sumiko Rainier MM (Moving-Magnet) cartridge that delivers a broad soundstage with clarity, dynamics, and warmth. The cartridge's resonance-optimized housing channels extraneous resonance away from the generator, ascertaining a well-represented soundstage with fantastic clarity and a natural hint of warmth. Impressively quiet while delivering impact, the Rainier skillfully places instruments & vocals right where they belong.
Carbon/Aluminum Sandwich Construction Tonearm: The X2 B uses a 9" carbon/aluminum tonearm. The carbon layer gives the tonearm a high degree of rigidity, while the inner aluminum tube takes over the damping of the tonearm. The ultra-low friction 4-pin point tonearm bearing guarantees a precise, stable and accurate tracking. The one-piece design avoids vibrations caused by detachable headshells. The TPE damped counterweight reduces arm-cartridge resonances by as much as 50%.
- The full aluminum tonearm base offer you real audiophile features. It allows you to adjust both the azimuth and the vertical tracking angle (VTA). Setting and experimenting with the VTA & Azimuth is crucial in extracting every last bit of performance out of your cartridges
- The tonearm height can be continuously adjusted by loosening the two screws. These settings give you the option of adapting the tonearm to height changes, allowing the use of different turntable mats or other cartridges to always achieve the best sound quality.
Note: In addition to the pre-installed Sumiko Rainier MM cartridge, the X2 B's tonearm is an excellent fit for low compliance MC cartridges (sold separately - see Accessories List).
Non-Resonant Acrylic Platter: The X2 B's motor drives a new, heavy, non-resonant Acrylic platter via a sub-platter drive system and a premium grade main bearing for smooth rotation. This is the perfect platform on which to place your precious vinyl records, guaranteeing absolute reliability in its performance and sonic character. The Acrylic platter measures 30mm thick and weighs 4.4 lbs.
MDF Plinth with Adjustable Feet: Structurally, the X2 B is supported by its large, heavy, dense and stiff MDF plinth, reducing unwanted resonances to almost imperceptible levels. By adding this extra mass, the X2 B is even quieter, allowing the vinyl reproduction to become more detailed and precise. The X2 B's plinth is available in four finishes; a premium walnut wood veneer, a luxurious black 8-layer high gloss paint, or black or white eight-layer hand-polished satin paint. Height-adjustable, Aluminum/TPE sandwich construction feet help to level the turntable and effectively isolate it from the surface it is placed on.
Balanced & Unbalanced Connectivity: The Pro-Ject X2 B is outfitted with balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) connectiond. There is stereo unbalanced RCA output, plus a 5-pin mini XLR balanced stereo output to connect the turntable to the Phono MM input of your stereo receiver or integrated amplifier. By utilizing the X2 B turntable's 5-pin mini XLR output, you'll enjoy the benefits of a balanced signal path.
- A 4' stereo RCA cable is included to make an unbalanced connection to the Phono MM input of your stereo receiver or integrated amplifier.
- A 5-pin mini XLR to stereo RCA cable is required (sold separately) to make a balanced connection between the X2 B turntable's 5-pin mini XLR input and the Phono MM input of your stereo receiver or integrated amp.
- If your receiver or amplifier does not have a suitable Phono MM input, a separate Phono Preamplifier (sold separately - see Accessories Tab) is required to connect the turntable to your receiver or amp.
