The White paintable Klipsch THX-8000-L is the model Klipsch now ships in place of the KL-7800-THX, the 8" THX® Ultra2-certified in-wall LCR speaker CapitalSound.ca has carried for years. If you already own KL-7800-THX speakers and need to add or replace one, the THX-8000-L is the correct current-production match — Klipsch discontinued the old model number and part number, and every KL-7800-THX and its distributor successor (KL7800THX2) now ships from the factory as the THX-8000-L.
The Same THX® Ultra2 Engineering, a New Model Number
We compared the published specifications for both speakers directly against Klipsch’s own documentation, and the acoustic design has not changed: the THX-8000-L uses the identical 1" titanium dome compression driver on an 80° x 80° Tractrix® horn, paired with the same 8" aluminum cone woofer, sealed enclosure, and 2300Hz crossover point as the outgoing KL-7800-THX. Frequency response (80Hz–20kHz ±3dB), sensitivity (91dB), power handling (150W/600W), impedance (8 ohms), and the 20.63"H x 11.63"W cabinet dimensions all carry over unchanged. In short: this is a renumbering and reissue of the same THX® Ultra2-certified speaker, not a new acoustic design, so it will match perfectly alongside existing KL-7800-THX speakers in a mixed installation.
What Actually Changed: A Neodymium Magnetic Grille
The one documented physical change is the grille. Klipsch’s current THX-8000-L spec sheet specifically calls out “premium neodymium magnets” that hold the paintable grille flush to the baffle “without any moving parts,” making it easy to pull off for painting or servicing and snap back into place. Klipsch’s documentation for the outgoing KL-7800-THX describes only a paintable grille, with no mention of magnetic attachment — so the magnetic grille genuinely is new to this reissue, even though the driver complement and cabinet inside the wall are unchanged. Our distributor’s own price sheet flags this exact speaker as shipping with “Magnetic Grills,” which matches what we found on Klipsch’s current product page.

The THX-8000-L is designed to be used as a left, center, or right channel speaker in a THX® Ultra2 system built for rooms of roughly 2,000–3,000 cubic feet or larger — a step up in output and low-frequency extension from Klipsch’s THX® Select2 in-wall models. The horn-loaded titanium compression driver keeps dynamics effortless at reference playback levels, while the sealed 8" aluminum woofer stays controlled and tight rather than boomy, which matters in an in-wall application where you can’t tune cabinet volume the way you can with a floorstander.

Is the THX-8000-L really the same speaker as the KL-7800-THX?
Acoustically, yes. The driver complement, crossover, enclosure, and published specifications match the KL-7800-THX exactly — Klipsch has simply moved this speaker to its current THX® model-numbering scheme and updated the grille to a magnetic design. You can mix THX-8000-L and existing KL-7800-THX speakers in the same room without a tonal mismatch.
Can I paint the grille to match my wall?
Yes. The grille ships in paintable white and is designed to be removed for painting — the magnetic attachment on this reissue makes that removal tool-free, versus the friction-fit grille on the outgoing model.
Does this speaker need a separate install kit?
The THX-8000-L is a retrofit-style in-wall speaker with an integrated back-can enclosure, so it does not require Klipsch’s optional new-construction bracket. Standard in-wall installation practices (proper stud/joist clearance, fire-rated backer where required by local code) apply.
