Klipsch THX-504-L — the Current SKU for the THX® Select2 In-Wall Speaker Formerly Sold as the KL-6504-THX
The White paintable Klipsch THX-504-L is the model Klipsch now ships in place of the KL-6504-THX, a THX® Select2-certified in-wall LCR speaker built around four 5.25" woofers for extra output and low-end headroom versus Klipsch’s smaller in-wall models. If you already have KL-6504-THX speakers installed, the THX-504-L is the current-production part to match them.
The Same Quad-Woofer Design and THX® Select2 Certification
We compared the THX-504-L’s published specifications against Klipsch’s documentation for the outgoing KL-6504-THX, and the acoustic architecture hasn’t changed: the same 1" titanium diaphragm compression driver on a 90° x 90° square Tractrix® horn, paired with four 5.25" fiberglass cone woofers and a 250Hz/2100Hz crossover network. Frequency response (46Hz–20kHz ±3dB), sensitivity (92dB), power handling (150W/600W), 8-ohm impedance, and the roughly 28.5"H x 8"W cabinet footprint carry over from the KL-6504-THX, as does the THX® Select2 certification. This is a renumbered reissue of the same speaker, not a new design.
Magnetic Grille Is the Verified Change
Klipsch’s current spec sheet for the THX-504-L specifically describes “premium neodymium magnets” holding the paintable grille flush against the baffle “without any moving parts.” Klipsch’s older documentation for the KL-6504-THX mentions only a paintable grille with no reference to magnets, and our distributor’s price sheet for this exact reissue calls out “Magnetic Grills” as the update alongside the new model number — both of which line up with what we found directly on Klipsch’s site.
Four Woofers for Larger Rooms and Bigger Screens
The THX-504-L’s four 5.25" fiberglass woofers give it noticeably more cone area than Klipsch’s dual-woofer THX-502-L, which is why THX® positions it for larger flat-panel installations (Klipsch’s own guidance is 42" and up) and bigger rooms where you need more low-frequency output and headroom from an LCR channel without stepping up to the Ultra2-tier THX-8000-L.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the THX-504-L the same as the KL-6504-THX?
Acoustically, yes. The four-woofer/compression-driver design, crossover points, and THX® Select2 certification are unchanged from the KL-6504-THX. Klipsch has updated the model number and grille attachment only.
How is this different from the THX-502-L?
The THX-504-L uses four 5.25" woofers instead of the THX-502-L’s two, giving it more output and low-frequency headroom — Klipsch positions it for larger rooms and bigger screens within the same THX® Select2 tier.
Does this require a specific install kit?
Klipsch offers an optional IK-504-W new-construction bracket kit for framing before drywall goes up; it is not required for retrofit installation into finished walls. We can help confirm what your installation needs before you order.
