The White paintable Klipsch THX-502-L is the model Klipsch now ships in place of the KL-6502-THX, a compact THX® Select2-certified in-wall LCR speaker built around dual 5.25" woofers. If you have existing KL-6502-THX speakers and need a matching addition or replacement, the THX-502-L is the current-production part.
Same Driver Layout, Same Select2 Certification
We compared the THX-502-L’s published specifications directly against Klipsch’s documentation for the outgoing KL-6502-THX, and the design is unchanged: a 1" titanium diaphragm compression driver on a 90° x 90° square Tractrix® horn, paired with dual 5.25" fiberglass cone woofers, an infinite-baffle in-wall enclosure, and crossover points at 1200Hz and 2100Hz. Frequency response (46Hz–20kHz ±3dB), sensitivity (92dB @ 2.83V/1m), power handling (100W/400W), switchable 8-ohm impedance, and the roughly 18"H x 8"W footprint all carry over from the KL-6502-THX, along with its THX® Select2 certification.
Magnetic Grille Confirmed as the Update
Klipsch’s current documentation for this speaker family (verified directly on the THX-504-L and THX-8000-L spec sheets, which share the same grille design language) describes “premium neodymium magnets” for tool-free grille removal, a detail absent from Klipsch’s older documentation for the KL-6502-THX, which references only a paintable, edge-to-edge grille. Our distributor’s price sheet for this reissue lists “Magnetic Grills” as the change alongside the new THX-502-L model number, consistent with what we found across Klipsch’s current in-wall THX® lineup.
A Compact LCR or Surround Solution
With a slimmer, shorter cabinet than the four-woofer THX-504-L, the THX-502-L is a practical choice where wall space or stud spacing is tighter, or where a room doesn’t need the extra output of the larger model. It still carries full THX® Select2 certification, so it’s built to the same reference-standard testing, just at a lower maximum output ceiling than its bigger sibling.
