The Walnut finish of Klipsch The Nines II brings the next generation of Klipsch’s powered speaker line to walnut, wrapped in genuine walnut wood veneer over MDF. The Nines II is the largest, most powerful pair in the lineup — sized like a compact tower and built to anchor a living room or home theater system, and the II generation carries over the horn-loaded Tractrix® sound Klipsch is known for while adding Dolby Atmos® virtualization, HDMI 2.1 with eARC, built-in Wi-Fi streaming, and a completely redesigned Onkyo-engineered electronics platform.
Features
Onkyo-Engineered Electronics: The Nines II is built around an all-new amplifier and processing platform co-developed with Klipsch’s sister brand Onkyo, whose engineering team in Osaka, Japan adapted its AV receiver architecture for a two-speaker system. The result is a more reliable, more powerful electronics package than the outgoing generation, with the extra processing headroom needed to decode Dolby Atmos®, DTS:X®, and run room correction in real time.
Two-Way Driver Design: Each cabinet in The Nines II pairs a 1" Titanium LTS vented tweeter on a Tractrix® horn with an 8" Jet Cerametallic™ woofer. The titanium diaphragm keeps the tweeter light and rigid for low distortion, the horn loading controls dispersion so the top end stays clear off-axis, and the vented design reduces standing waves behind the diaphragm for smoother high-frequency output.
One-Piece BMC Baffle: The front baffle on The Nines II is now molded as a single, denser and more rigid piece than the multi-part baffle used on the previous generation. Klipsch designed it with a curved radius around the tweeter horn to widen the soundstage and further damp the resonance that can color a driver’s output.
Dolby Atmos® Virtualization: The Nines II processes Dolby Atmos-encoded soundtracks through its onboard DSP to place height and surround cues around and above the listening position — without physical upfiring or surround drivers. It’s not a substitute for a full discrete Atmos system, but it adds a genuine sense of dimension to movies and Atmos Music streams that a traditional two-channel speaker can’t reproduce.
DTS:X® and Studio-Grade Inputs: As the flagship of the range, The Nines II adds DTS:X® and DTS Virtual:X® decoding alongside Dolby Atmos®, plus a balanced XLR/¼" TRS analog input for connecting professional gear or a preamp without the noise floor of an unbalanced RCA connection.
Dirac Live® Room Correction: The Nines II ships with a Dirac Live® Limited Bandwidth license and an included calibration microphone. Run the guided measurement through the Klipsch Connect Plus app (or the full Dirac Live desktop application for more control) and the system corrects bass response up to 500Hz for your specific room and speaker placement. A full-bandwidth Dirac Live license that corrects the entire frequency range and stores multiple listening-position profiles is available as a paid upgrade.
HDMI 2.1 with eARC: The Nines II adds a full HDMI 2.1 input/output pair, with the output supporting eARC and CEC so the speakers can sit between a TV and a source device, pass video through, and still receive lossless multichannel audio back from the TV for one-remote operation.
Built-In Streaming: Dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi (2x2 MIMO) and a Gigabit-capable Ethernet jack let The Nines II join your home network directly, with built-in support for Google Cast, Apple AirPlay® 2, Spotify Connect®, Tidal Connect®, and Qobuz Connect® — no separate streaming puck required. Bluetooth® 5.4 with SBC and AAC codecs covers phone and tablet playback when you’d rather not join the Wi-Fi network.
Wired or Wireless Stereo Link: The primary and secondary speaker in The Nines II can still be connected with the included Cat 6 speaker-link cable for a fully wired 96kHz/24-bit hi-res connection, or paired cable-free at up to 48kHz hi-res resolution — useful when running a cable between the two speakers isn’t practical.
Analog and Digital Inputs: A switchable RCA input works as either a line-level connection or a built-in phono preamp for a turntable, joined by TOSLINK optical, digital coaxial,, USB-C audio, and a USB-A port for hi-res file playback and firmware updates. A mono RCA subwoofer output is included for adding low end later.
Redesigned Controls: The Nines II replaces the previous generation’s plastic top controls with a metal control wheel and input key for volume and source selection, and pairs it with a new backlit remote that’s easier to use in a dark room. The Klipsch Connect Plus app handles setup, EQ, source selection, and firmware updates from a phone or tablet.
