Features
Class D Bi-Amplification: The Kanto ORA speaker system features a Class D bi-amplification with 50 watts (RMS) of total power, delivering 9 watts to each tweeter and 16 watts to each woofer. The built-in Class D amplifiers are located in the ORA's powered speaker. Powering the tweeters and woofers with separate amplifiers allow each driver to focus on a specific frequency band without wasting power.
- The propriety 4i-pin DIN jacks on back of the each speaker, along with the included 6.5' proprietary speaker cable connect the powered and passive speakers together.
- The Kanto ORA speaker system utilizes a proprietary speaker cable that cannot be modified or replaced with longer speaker wire.
Two-Way Driver Design: The Kanto ORA speaker system features a two-way driver design with a 0.75" silk dome tweeter and 3" paper cone woofer for clear high and detailed midrange/midbass frequencies.
- 0.75" Silk Dome Tweeter: The ORA's 0.75" silk dome tweeter provides smooth, extended treble and is tuned for long, fatigue-free listening sessions. Special care was taken when designing the waveguide to enhance ORA's vertical dispersion. With its wide vertical and horizontal directivity, the ORA speaker system sounds just as good standing upright as it does lying sideways.
- 3" Paper Cone Woofer: The 3" woofer cone is made of a treated paper material that is lightweight and offer high efficiency along with accurate midrange and midbass frequencies. The 3" cone woofer also utilizes a rubber surround for long-lasting performance with deeper bass.
Bass Reflex Cabinet: The Kanto ORA powered speaker system utilizes a bass reflex enclosure design with a rear-firing slot port for greater efficiency and bigger bass response. The Kanto ORA powered speaker system does not come with grilles.
Built-In Bluetooth 5.0: The Kanto ORA features built-in Bluetooth with support for wireless audio streaming (A2DP). You'll be able to wirelessly stream stored music, music apps, and other audio content from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer to the ORA speaker system. You can pair multiple Bluetooth devices with the Kanto ORA, but only one source device can be connected and used for playback at a time. The speaker system has a wireless range of approximately 33'.
- Music playback control and song/artist/album information will still be handled by your Bluetooth-enabled source device and not the Kanto ORA.
- The Kanto ORA does not support Bluetooth hands-free communication (HFP) for making or answering phone calls from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone.
USB-DAC: Featuring a built-in DAC (digital-to-analog) and USB-C port (located on the powered speaker), the ORA lets you connect directly to your computer (Windows or Mac) via USB, eliminating any interference that your computer’s on-board sound-card may pick-up while enjoying a fully digital, high-quality audio connection. The ORA's USB DAC supports 2ch stereo PCM/WAV music files up to 24-bit/96kHz resolution. When connecting your computer via USB connection, the noisy built-in DAC of your computer is bypassed, and the audio signals are instead decoded by the ORA's high-quality DAC, delivering rich and distortion-free sound to the speakers.
- Please ensure you have changed the proper audio output settings in your computer, so audio signals are output to the ORA speakers and not to your computer's internal speakers. Select "USB Audio DAC" as the output device in your computer audio settings.
- No separate USB drivers are required for Windows PC or Mac.
- The Kanto ORA's USB-C port does not support USB thumbdrives, smartphones, tablets, hubs, or card-readers.
Stereo RCA Input: The Kanto ORA is outfitted with an Aux input that consists of analog stereo RCA jacks (located on the powered speaker) for connecting an external portable audio device, such as your portable music player. The Aux input can also be used to connect an optional network music streamer or Phono preamp (both sold separately).
- Optional Network Music Streamer: The Kanto ORA does not offer network connectivity. However, you can add an optional network music streamer (sold separately - see Accessories Tab) to the system speaker system.
- Optional Phono Preamp: To connect a turntable to the ORA speaker system, you'll need a turntable with a built-in Phono preamp or an external phono preamp (sold separately - see Accessories Tab).
Sub Out: The Kanto ORA is equipped with a mono-RCA subwoofer output (located on the powered speaker) for connecting a powered subwoofer (sold separately - see Accessories Tab) to add deep, low bass to the speaker system. A built-in low pass crossover network automatically kicks in when a subwoofer is connected sending all frequencies above 100Hz (@ 24dB/oct) to the speakers and below to the sub, allowing the ORA speaker system to focus on the mid and high frequencies - playing louder with less distortion.
Front-Panel Control Dial: There is a 3-way rotary knob on the front of the powered speaker that controls Power On/Off, Source Selection and Volume Up/Down functions. The LED on the front-panel switches between Green for RCA, Yellow for USB, and Blue for Bluetooth based on the input you've selected.
Mounting & Placement Options: The ORA powered speaker system is designed for either desktop, bookshelf, or stand mounting to enhance your computer audio listening in a near-field environment; but can also be used in a standard 2ch stereo application. The speakers come with self-adhesive rubber feet to protect your furniture (the feet add approximately 0.125" to the overall height of the speakers). Check out the Accessories Tab for desktop and floor stands (sold separately). There is a 1/4"-20 insert on the back of each speaker, if you prefer to wall-mount the speakers using a 3rd-party wall-mount bracket (not included and sold separately).
- The ORA speakers can be mounted vertically or horizontally when positioning on a stand, tabletop, desktop, or bookshelf. When wall-mounting, the ORA speakers can only be vertically mounted.
- In either setup, the space between the two speakers and the distance from the rear wall is important. If the speakers are positioned too close or too far apart, stereo imaging will not be fully developed.
- The ORA is designed to perform optimally positioned at least 7.875" to 9.875" from the rear wall for best bass response.
- Regardless of the setup you choose, keep in mind that rooms vary in shape, size, and furnishing; a certain amount of experimentation may be necessary to determine the most suitable position that delivers the most satisfying sound performance.
Power Requirements: The Kanto ORA's powered speaker includes a AC power adapter and cord that will need to be plugged into an AC power outlet or surge protector (sold separately - see Accessories Tab). The passive speaker does not require AC power. *The Kanto ORA speaker system is not battery powered.
